economy.President Barack Obama early in his administration named Volcker to be chairman of an Economic Recovery Advisory Board He was recently tapped to head a panel on U.S. tax reform. One of few policy-makers in Washington today to have lived through the Great Depression, Volcker said at the conference that the U.S. economy is mired in a “Great Recession.”As the administration tries to stabilize the financial system, Volcker warned the government should not be too clear on which institutions deserve taxpayer help, and which don’t.”We should not encourage … the view that some financial institutions are to be assured of official support, which in the midst of the present turmoil is, of course, the present presumption,” he said.FOCUS ON CUSTOMERSBanks “are and should remain strong and stable providers of financial services,” he said. “The priority is and should be to respond to the needs of customers” for safe and liquid assets, credit and financial advice and counsel.”What does not seem to me to be central to the banking mission … “I do suspect that the relatively recent participation in capital markets has contributed, for some important institutions, to an unfortunate lack of focus on core banking functions,” he said. One of many reform proposals making the rounds in Washington is an idea to create a “systemic risk regulator” to monitor and manage financial risk in the economy.”If systemic regulator means that somebody — the Federal Reserve or somebody else — is going to supervise in detail big banks, that’s not my vision,” Volcker said.”But somebody ought to be looking at the overall system .. That’s the job for the overall overseer, in my view. It’s natural to think that the Federal Reserve is in that role.”Commenting broadly on the crisis, Volcker added:”I never thought I would live to see the day when the American financial markets were dependent on the degree of government support and intervention that we have today.

There is a plain need for making reform.”(Reporting by Kevin Drawbaugh; Editing by Diane Craft) Crisis in Credit. WallbergVice President & CFO(214) 905-5145SOURCEULURU Inc.Renaat Van den Hooff, President & CEO, or Terry K. Wallberg, Vice President &CFO, both of ULURU Inc., +1-214-905-5145. For the first time in a long time I started off this year really excited to see what the Cleveland Indians were going to bring to the table for the 2008 season.Last year was a treat…even though the Indians choked in the ALCS, they made it farther than they have gone in six years, which for me was an extremely long six years and I am sure for other Indians fans…they will agree. But this year I had very high expectations for the 2008 Tribe…none of them are being met.Instead of the Indians taking off to a 6-10 game lead after two months of play, the Indians are finding themselves in more of a panic mode than anything else. The starting pitching to this point has been absolutely phenomenal with four of the five starters landing a spot in the top five in A.L ERA leaders.

The bullpen up to this point hasn’t been doing nearly as good as last year with Betancourt struggling and Joe Bo having injury problems. But other than that you can’t blame the bullpen for many of the losses that the Tribe have already had this year. There is only one thing to blame for the way that the Indians have started this year off, and fans of the Indians who are reading this know exactly what I am talking about HITTING!As a team the Cleveland Indians are batting a league lowest .234. Casey Blake is the teams RBI leader with 27 and he is only batting .216. Jhonny Peralta is the teams home runs leader with 11 and he is only batting .225. Ryan Garko batted .289 last year and is only batting .234 right now and his swing is absolutely disgusting.Sizemore is supposed to be our all-star outfielder but he is only batting .255 and looks completely lost at the plate at times. Do you even remember in the year 2006 when Hafner hit 42home runs and batted .308 with 117 RBI?He didn’t have a great year last year but did finish with 100 RBI.
