TEAM INFO
The Tampa Eagles were founded in 1997 by a small group of enthusiastic wrestlers. Many had never wrestled before or participated in organized wrestling events. Since then the team has gone on to host numerous wrestling weekends, attended Gay Games Amsterdam and brought home 2 medals. In 2002 our own Allen Ross brought home a silver medal from the 2002 Gay Games in Sydney.
Each year in early to mid March, the team hosted a wrestling weekend in the Tampa Bay area.
In November 2007, the Tampa Eagles became the Tampa Bay Thunder Wrestling Team.
Note: The Tampa Bay Thunder Wrestling Team is a gay men's freestyle wrestling team, but we will never discriminate against a person due to their sexual orientation, gender, or gender orientation. In addition to freestyle, the team also practices some submission style wrestling, as that has become a popular wrestling style.
